Mid-May Update!

Hi folks!

I’ve had a few things pick up on the horizon, which is awesome!

Hopefully, in the next few days, I will have some previews up from the lovely wedding I had the opportunity to second shoot last weekend; as well as photos from my nephew’s first holy communion!

I also did a mini mother’s day shoot with my mother, sister and my sister’s boyfriend’s family‚Ķjust few snapshots from the day! I did bring out the film camera in an effort to fall back in love with my film roots; I am excited to see how that goes. As I may have mentioned before — this is something I really want to get back into and incorporate into my unique photographic style.

See you soon!

An Update…

Hello friends.

Things have been a tad slow here at Michele Joann Photography. Last September, I started a new job at a new place of employment and aside from a few family photo shoots here and there for various holidays…I’ve been pretty focused on that.

I keep promising myself that I need to focus more on my creative endeavors, and really…I AM TRYING!

I’ve involved myself in a local Facebook group for Pittsburgh-area film photographers, and so far I’m really enjoying the interactions I am having within that group. It’s inspiring me to go back to my roots in film photography, and more analog and handmade processes in the craft.

Pittsburgh is an extremely competitive city for the lifestyle and wedding photographer and even with the social interactions with my colleagues, I find myself getting lost in the shuffle. It’s very easy to get discouraged when a lot of folks have a very similar product and the client wants to go for a certain “trend” in photography today. The whole point, to me, is to produce a unique product that my potential client will love…and finding that footing is something I need to focus on hard, while putting a personal touch on it.

I want to stand out. Be the photographer who does something almost no one else does. Give the client something they will always remember as the most amazing experience. Be different. Be unique.

Going forward, I’m going to be intergrating more film and analog processes in client work, in addition to digital images. I’m going to put more of my heart and soul into my work. And I’m going to have fun doing it.

Engagement Season is HERE!

Now that the Holiday season is winding down, the burning question on my mind is: Who got engaged?

Christmastime is definitely, without a doubt, a popular time of year to pop the question. Your families are more than likely around, friends and other relatives come into town to celebrate the season…so why not propose in front of everyone you know and love?

Which leads me to my next topic: engagement photos. While it is not a total requirement to opt for them, engagement photos are a nice way to show the people who are important in your life that you and your significant other are getting ready to take that next big step: marriage.

Engagement photos can serve to be the basis of a save the date card, announcing your nuptials; a beautiful professional grade image captured in time that you can cherish for a lifetime; and can also be reproduced for display for the big day (in the form of autograph mats and albums, or even a simple framed photo).

Interested in an engagement shoot? Let me know! I’m now booking for shoots of all types for 2016 and beyond.

If you’d like to know pricing, just ask! Remember, if you book an engagement shoot, and then decide to book me for your wedding day, your engagement shoot fee becomes your deposit!
